Spec it once, or buy it twice.

Standard polypropylene tears, frays, and breaks down in UV — turning sandbags into a recurring spend. Geotextile is the spec-once decision.

Standard Polypropylene

The recurring-spend option

  • Tears and frays easily
  • Degrades in UV, pollutes soil
  • Lasts 6-12 months
  • Replacement line-item every project
Best Long-Term Value

Our Geotextile Sandbags

The specification choice

  • Puncture resistant (2,600 N)
  • UV-stabilized, no soil pollution
  • Lasts years outdoors
  • Spec once, off the budget

Case Study: Slope Stabilisation with Geotextile Sandbags

Long-term erosion control on exposed embankments using UV-stabilised geotextile sandbags.

3+ years | Long-term field performance 1,200+ bags | Installed across exposed slopes Vegetation established | Natural slope stabilisation over time

A South African golf estate experienced ongoing erosion along exposed embankments, threatening fairway edges and cart paths. Conventional retaining structures were considered too costly and visually intrusive for the course environment.

We supplied over 1,200 UV-stabilised geotextile sandbags which were stacked along the affected slopes. Under their own weight, the bags interlock to form a permeable and flexible structure that stabilises the slope while allowing water to drain through.

More than three years after installation, the sandbags remain intact with indigenous vegetation now established through and around the structure. The result is a stable embankment that appears natural while maintaining structural reinforcement beneath the surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Material, durability and specification questions

Geotextile sandbags offer superior strength and UV resistance compared to traditional burlap or polypropylene. They're rot-proof, won't degrade from moisture, and maintain structural integrity even when stacked under heavy loads. Unlike cheaper alternatives, geotextile bags won't tear during filling or handling.
